Robin Hood Festival celebrates its 40th anniversary in Sherwood Forest
The Robin Hood Festival returns to Sherwood Forest in Nottinghamshire for its 40th anniversary in 2026, running over three separate weekends: 1–2 August, 8–9 August, and 29–31 August. Set in the ancient woodland that gave birth to the world’s most famous outlaw, this beloved event celebrates the legend of Robin Hood with pageantry, archery, knights and living history.
Each weekend features an action-packed programme of events around the Sherwood Forest Visitor Centre and under the iconic Major Oak: archery competitions, jousting, medieval markets, theatrical performances of Robin Hood legends, and living history encampments where re-enactors in Lincoln green and Norman armour demonstrate life in 12th-century England. The 40th anniversary edition promises special celebrations with additional performers, historical guests and commemorative events. Admission to the festival is entirely free.
